The story
Project 831 started with a simple observation: Jamshedpur deserved a real place to play. Not a borrowed badminton hall, not a taped-over tennis court — a venue built for pickleball from the ground up, with the kind of surface and gear you'd expect in a much bigger city. So we built one in Sonari, opposite Brindaban Gardens, and opened in May 2026.
Pickleball is the fastest-growing racquet sport in the world for a reason — it takes twenty minutes to learn, a lifetime to master, and it is genuinely fun at every level in between. In a city built on industry and sport, it fits better than anyone expects. The crowd at 831 runs from school kids to retirees, and most of them had never held a paddle before they walked in.
Why “831”
Every address in Jamshedpur starts with 831.
Check your pin code — 831001, 831011, 831017 — the whole city shares the prefix. This place is named for all of it, not one neighbourhood. And if you know the old pager code where 8-3-1 means “I love you” — eight letters, three words, one meaning — we won't pretend that didn't help the decision.
Built, not painted.
A pickleball court is easy to fake and hard to build. Ours started as a properly laid asphalt base, then took an eight-layer cushioned acrylic system— including three cushion coats — finished to international playing standards. The difference is the part you feel: consistent bounce, real grip, and knees that don't hate you the next morning.
The base
Asphalt, laid to spec
The foundation layer that keeps a court true through Jamshedpur summers and monsoons.
The surface
8-layer acrylic system
Eight layers including three cushion coats — built to international playing standards.
The result
Two full-size courts
Consistent bounce, real grip, easy on the knees. The same court system serious venues use.
More than courts.
The courts
Pickleball, properly
Bookable by the hour, every day. Paddles and balls included with every booking.
The fridge
Cold, zero sugar
A proper café is on the way. For now the fridge keeps the post-game analysis going — seating, cold drinks, opinions.
The community
The actual product
Morning regulars, evening leagues, kids in coaching, parents who came to watch and stayed to play.
Day to day, that looks like hourly court bookings, structured coaching for kids and adults, tournaments, birthday takeovers, and corporate team sessions. The long game is simpler than any of that: make Jamshedpur a city where pickleball is just something people do.
